Understated island chic
COCO BODU HITHI
It was at the magnificent over-water Coco Spa that I experienced my first ‘Maldives moment’. There I was, lying on a massage bed in one of the world’s most desirable and indulgent resorts. The floor-to-ceiling windows framed the still sapphire water as the reef below brimmed with the morning’s aquatic activity.
Coco Bodu Hithi has built a superb reputation for itself over the years, and for good reason. The spa hangs just metres above the ocean floor, allowing guests to marvel at the undisturbed seaview. The island’s colourful house reef has been extremely popular amongst first-time snorkellers and experienced divers for a long time.
The villas are the epitome of understated island chic. With deep, designer bathtubs, big enough for two, and plunge pools on the sundecks, they are equipped with everything a couple could ask for a romantic retreat. In fact, some guests never leave the seclusion of their villas; with an à la carte in-Villa dining menu and private butler on hand, there’s little need.
Although, guests wanting to venture out and explore can discover seven bars and restaurants, as well as sunset cruises and water sports.
