“Our partnerships are often with clients aiming to grow pan-European business”
A leading engineering contractor, Mercury Engineering has enjoyed a first-move advantage managing construction projects for US multinationals. CEO Eoin Vaughan says this history makes delivery for foreign clients part of their DNA.
What sectors can Mercury claim expertise?
As a multidisciplinary contractor, we handle many project types regardless of size or complexity across a variety of sectors, including commercial, data center, manufacturing, infrastructure and healthcare. This broad expertise means we have become a natural conduit for facilitating FDI into Ireland, the rest of Europe and beyond. Indeed, nearly half of our business is conducted outside Ireland. Our partnerships are often with clients aiming to grow pan-European business from a hub in Ireland. While working abroad we utilize local talent, but we are centralized out of Dublin.
What sector has the largest growth potential?
US businesses in particular benefit from our expertise in the life science, data center, micro-processing and healthcare sectors. We are one of the leading contractors building and equipping data centers across Europe, and believe this sector will grow tremendously. The vast majority of our clients are American multinationals, and we currently work with three of the largest data center providers and five leading pharmaceutical companies.
How does technology differentiate your business?
We have pioneered BIM technology with several clients and built modularization facilities, which are differentiators for our clients. Moreover, our clients appreciate the expertise we have built over the four decades that has bloomed from our cooperation with FDI clients, with nearly 70 percent of income over the last five years coming from repeat business.
